Bookbinding Scholarships at North Branch Projects
North Branch Projects ia a community bookbinding space in Albany Park. With this campaign, I am raising funds to offer scholarships that will bring the fun and educational benefits of this art form to neighborhood schools.
About This Project
North Branch Projects is a community bookbinding space that I opened in 2010 to help expand the creativity of individuals, no matter the amount of art making they have experienced. People have been utilizing North Branch’s free community binding sessions regularly since we opened in September of 2010, but our goal is to work with a specific group of teachers in the neighborhood public schools (Volta, Haugan, Hibbard, Roosevelt HS, and Von Steuben HS to name a few) to get them to bring bookbinding to their students and expand our reach.
During the fall of 2012, scholarships will be offered to a total of twelve teachers to enroll in bookbinding courses offered at North Branch’s bindery. We will be enrolling two groups of six participants in each class, allowing for flexibility for teachers who have different schedules. The four-session course will cover basic bookbinding skills and techniques, and also include a resource binder that can be used for curriculum development.
Your support will enable us to cover the costs of hosting the two classes ($150 tuition x 12 students = $1800) plus the costs of supplies and printing reference materials for the binders ($50 x 12 = $600) for a grand total requirement of $2400.
Any amount helps and all rewards are cumulative!
