Rani Young
Rani Young is a Chicago-based visual artist. She captures vignettes of moments, whether real or fragments of her internal narrative. Rani is a recipient of a 2014 Individual Artist grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. She earned her BFA from Colorado State University and a Post-Baccalaureate from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2010, Rani co-founded Transistor, a gallery, shop and performance space in Chicago, where she taught drawing, painting and design software classes and curated a live music performance series. She is currently an instructor at Oak Park Art League and leads classes for adults and teens that focus on foundational drawing skills and portfolio development. In September, Rani’s paintings will be on exhibit at DeVos Place Convention Center as part of ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rani works out of her painting studio at Fulton Street Collective, where her current focus is narrative, figurative oil paintings.
