Charles Bledsoe, better known as “Poppin Chuck,” is a remarkable dance and visual artist who exemplifies the definition of a true school innovator. In the last three decades, Chuck has performed with and choreographed for some of the world’s best known Hip-Hop artists such as KRS-One, Kurtis Blow, Dilated Peoples, Kid Sister, Medusa, Cypress Hill, and R&B singer Mya.
Chuck’s natural talent for Locking and Popping has earned him great respect among prominent street dance communities in both Chicago and Los Angeles, where he has danced in circles alongside the L.A. Breakers, Electric Boogaloos, L.A. Boppin Crew, L.A. Airforce Crew, and the Pomona City Wavers. Residing in Chicago for more than 15 years, “Poppin Chuck” performs with his groups, Robot M.A.F.I.A and Thee Authentic Fewsion (T.A.F). He has taught with prominent organizations such as Kuumba Lynx, Rumble Arts Center, Chicago Housing Authority, After School Matters, and Sol Arts Collective, and he currently teaches with Urban Gateways. He has conducted workshops for several colleges and universities such as Michigan State University, University of Madison Wisconsin, DePaul University, University of Chicago, and Columbia College Chicago. His artwork is included among hundreds of artists in L.A. Graffiti Black Book, published by Getty Publications (2021).
