Gabriel Moreno is an artist working in sculpture and drawing. Recent work has explored the role of negativity in sculpture’s history: the resonance of removal, erasure, reduction, absence, invisibility, and openness. Taking root in specific industrial histories spanning the American Midwest and Mexico, his work asks who, what, and where is left after "the end.” In the end, he lingers. His process is defined by a particular responsiveness to these ideas through research, participation, design, and craft.
Gabriel has exhibited notably at Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Chicago), Hyde Park Art Center, Randy Alexander Gallery, Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, and Produce Model Gallery. Recent collaborations have been with Rick Lowe’s Black Wall Street Journey, Atlas Unlimited, Terrain Biennial, and Goddamn. Gabriel graduated from Knox College (BA) and The University of Chicago (MFA).
