Ava Wanbli is a new media performance artist who uses video, performance, 3D scanning, sculpture, and game engines to reconstruct dynamics of spectacle and intimacy through eroticized mediation of the body. In ritualized actions, Ava addresses consumption and the process of becoming through virtual avatar proxies and environments. In the critique of voyeuristic actions of fetishized bodies, she points toward her experience in hypersexual virtual landscapes as a transwoman. She is an alumnus of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Film, Video, New Media, and Animation Department. Ava has exhibited work locally at Links Hall, Space P11 Gallery, Sullivan Galleries, Zhou B Art Center, and ACRE Gallery; at the Supernova Digital Animation Festival in Denver, Colorado; and as a MANA Contemporary New Media Artist-in-residence.
