Joanie Schultz

Joanie Schultz is a stage director, arts leader, and teacher. Her work has been seen throughout Chicago and regional theaters across the country. She has served as Artistic Director at WaterTower Theatre in Texas and as Associate Artistic Producer at Victory Gardens Theater. Joanie holds an MFA from Northwestern University and a BA from Columbia College Chicago. She was a Drama League Fellow; a Goodman Theatre Michael Maggio Directing Fellow; a Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Denham Fellow; a Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab participant; and 2013 Co-Artistic Curator for Theater on the Lake.

She is an ensemble member at Steep Theatre, artistic associate at Victory Gardens, and an artistic cabinet member at Studio Theatre in Washington, DC. She has been on the theater faculty of Columbia College Chicago and the University of Chicago, the opera faculty of Roosevelt University and Northwestern University, and has taught for the School at Steppenwolf, Audition Studio, and Steep Theatre.
